TruthYou know, it seems every time I hear some new statistic, it is about the increasing doubt of professed Christians over the absolute truth of God.
In a survey of professed "born again" Christian teens, it was noted that each year there has been a steady erosion of belief in absolute truth. I think it was ten years ago (maybe it was 20), that only 48% of professed "born again" teenagers believed in an absolute truth. If that is discouraging -- that number today according to the most recent survey -- is only 9%.
In other words 91% of teenagers who profess a belief in Christ and claim to be born again -- do not believe in absolute truth.
I do not know what they think about Jesus claim, "I am the way, the truth and the life."
They have probably been so indoctrinated with the secular humanism "religion" that is taught in our schools -- that the Bible becomes a "good book" with some great moral teachings -- but representing the words of man -- and not God.
Satan is really on a roll -- and relishing the fact that so many do not believe he exists. And he is also not foolish enough to try to convince the world that there is no God. He just wants to distort WHO God is -- and what He expects of us.
In the Garden of Eden, he hissed, "You won't die!" He went on to add that Adam and Eve would become "just like God."
And isn't it a similar message that Satan wants the world to believe today? Surely Jesus is not the ONLY way. Surely there is no hell. What kind of loving God would send someone to hell?
So -- Satan has many believing that an all loving God will be all forgiving -- and therefore an eternity in heaven awaits all --regardless of their faith. The need for the tortuous death of Jesus on the cross is glossed over -- or accepted as the fact that "he died for all" (leaving out the other part of that equation that states our need to believe and confess Him as Lord of our life to be forgiven).
Or conversely, the truth of a loving God is rejected -- on the grounds of there being so much evil in the world.
Pointing at the infamous activity of 9-11-2001, the Satan inspired skeptic says, "Where was your loving God on that tragic day?"
Does it strike anyone else as comical that we humans (and our "all knowing" scientists) haven't figured out how to cure the common cold or why the quack of a duck doesn't echo -- yet we try to figure out God? What was God's explanation to Job for suffering? Right -- He didn't give one. Why? Because He doesn't have to give one. And if He gave one, it would be to us as if we were an ant trying to understand the theory of relativity. As the Bible says, His ways aren't our ways. His thoughts aren't our thoughts. Thank goodness!
For a poor analogy, we are like little mice in a cage trying to analyze the work of brilliant scientist that has a lot bigger agenda than the comfort of the mice in that cage. God has an eternal agenda and we try to rationalize everything that happens within our own little time and space warp of the here and now.
Folly is what Solomon called it.
But so be it. It is our nature. And in that spirit -- though I think it is only a tiny microscopic part of God's working with and through us -- the following link has some good thoughts about what God may have been doing in part on 9-11. He would probably chuckle at most of this because it is yet another feeble effort to explain Him -- but it's still a decent effort -- because it does place an emphasis on some "miraculous" events -- and He is a God of miracles.
